Codes as of 03/15/19 details from Google and codes linked to the page on yourmechanic talking about what the issue is, and how to fix.

P0442
The P0442 generally has no adverse symptoms other than the Check Engine Light being present. When this code is seen, it means that the EVAP system is leaking fuel vapors into the atmosphere. A slight dip in fuel economy may be noticed with this code.

P0455
The code P0455 means an EVAP system leak detected. As always, check the gas cap first. A common problem in this vehicle is a bad vent control valve. It’s installed at the charcoal canister at the back of the car, close to the right rear wheel.

P0573
When the PCM stores the P0573 code, it’s because it has discovered an electrical malfunction affecting your vehicle’s cruise control brake switch “A” circuit. (NOTE this truck does not have cruise control)

P0700
P0700 is set when the PCM detects a malfunction in the transmission control system. This malfunction causes the vehicle to set a Check Engine Light and trigger a failsafe mode. Once the failsafe mode is set it will remain until the fault is repaired or normal operation is detected.

P0741
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will set theP0741 diagnostic trouble code when it notices a difference between the rotational speed of the torque converter and the transmission input shaft that is greater than 200 revolutions per minute (RPM).

5 Question for Larry Sharpe and Marc Molinaro

With the New York State Governors race starting to heat up I have friends trying to convince me to vote for Larry Sharpe and others wanting me to vote for Marc Molinaro. Both candidates are pushing out various campaign promises and rhetoric on social media and the like, but for me the issues portrayed as the big deals, normally don’t actually affect our day to day lives, and the big issues like horrible regulations, taxes, and the like are typically just campaign rhetoric and never actually happen. Personally, I like to look at the “smaller” issues that will never make their social media or the media in general because they don’t pull at the right heartstrings or have too much contempt from misinformation.

Here are the simple 5 questions I would like to see answered from both Marc and Larry as their answers to these questions will shed a lot more light on what their core values are. As politicians don’t run on principles unless that specific principle is “sexy” enough. And yes I understand that I am just one person but from ads and all the people on social media it must mean that each individual vote matters?

1) Will you support or attempt to advance ending of unconstitutional checkpoints (suspicion-less checkpoints) in New York State and support the 4th amendment? Why?

2) Do you support the government in it’s proclaimed right to mandate an individual person obtains a fishing permit? Why?

2a) Is someone fishing create reasonable suspicion to search their papers and demand them to show a fishing permit to a government official?

3) Will you support or attempt to advance the abolishment of the Clean Air Indoor Act and let business owners and the market decide what they will allow in their private property? Why?

4) Will you support or attempt to advance repealing the window tint regulations on NYS and allow people to make their own choices on the windows of their personal property? Why?

Note I have asked both Marc and Larry these questions and am awaiting if they answer.

Innocent until proven guilty unless you’re on facebook

Ask 5 random people if they were arrested for a crime they didn’t commit if they would want to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

I think it’s fair to say 100% of those people would want to be presumed innocent. That may even have a higher agree rate than agreeing on freedom of speech. Being presumed innocent unless proven guilty is something that is essential to a free society and one of the best defenses against a government gone wild. And yes police officers and judges are government employees. So if the vast majority agree that if they were charged with something they would want to be seen as innocent why are the facebook comments on stories of people arrested or even wanted for questioning so horrible?

Seriously just look at any time the local CBS posts a picture of someone on their facebook wall. It sickens my stomach to how fast we as a society jump to the conclusion that if someones picture is on facebook they obviously committed what ever crime it is they were arrested for. Don’t believe me just look at any of the “wanted” or “arrested” photos published on facebook. I know they are “just reporting the news” and I have huge issues with the way they portray their stories or innocent people. Basically if they post your photo the public opinion of you is you are evil and should die. Now I’m sure it isn’t just them but they happen to be the local news page I like to follow on facebook.

So next time you are about to comment on facebook on a “wanted” or “arrested” photo or article take 2 seconds to think to yourself “what if this was my that was arrested and I was innocent?”

Don’t think people would be arrested or wanted for questioning if they weren’t guilty? Then you are hiding your head in the sand. The easiest numbers to look at are when DNA started to be used to convict and prove innocence of people. Back in 1995 when 10,600 cases were looked at over 25% of the cases the suspects that were being questioned were excluded once DNA tests were performed. (1) That means over 2,650 innocent people were suspects and if posted on facebook surely would have been thought publicly as guilty. Are the ones who are proven innocent or not found guilty ever re plastered all of the facebook walls? Sadly no.

Warren County one of the leading police state counties

Warren County residents you should be afraid, very afraid! With the news that your sheriffs department just received an armored tank from the federal government. The department already has two military Humvees and an armored truck certainly you must wonder why? Is Warren County the new Syria? Is there some sort of countywide civil war happening that’s not been reported as of yet? Did I mention this 10 foot tall tank has a gun turret? While there is no gun in the vehicle at this moment it’s still outfitted to have one .

Some are hailing this as great since it’s been provided by the federal government. Just in case you didn’t receive the memo that still means you (the tax payer) are paying to militarize your police force.

I’ve read some people commenting that this is great because it is needed to get the drug dealers. Really? We need the same type of tanks used to fight wars in the middle east to apprehend drug dealers in Warren County? I find that utterly impossible to believe. They also say these military vehicles are needed just in case of flooding. You are a police force, not the military, can’t you just buy a boat? Hell you can find a bunch of free row boats on craigslist on any given day, so no need to be concerned about the financial burden of obtaining a boat.

Unfortunately the real reason behind the militarizing of the Warren County Sheriffs office can be found by looking at the statements released from the Warren County Sheriffs Office.

“the vehicles and equipment are important assets that couldn’t be passed up”
and
“The vehicle will also serve as a deterrent to drug dealers or others who might be contemplating a show of force”

WOAH! There you have it right from the militarized Warren County Sheriffs own words! Notice the very clever wording in the last sentence. Lets break the statement down;

These vehicles are meant to scare the hell out of the people in and around Warren County! They  are serving as a deterrent, the whole “peace through strength” argument. Aren’t the laws which provided fines and jail time the deterrent? No instead the Warren County Sheriffs want to create and spread fear to every person into following every order and always complying with any and all government regulations. That’s right, no longer are the police using jail as the deterrent to prevent crimes, now they are using the threat of military style action and combat and the threat of death to make its own residents quiver in fear.

After they openly admit these vehicles are going to be used to spread fear, of course the Sheriff will bring up drug dealers first. That’s just a given because we know everyone fears the drug dealers and we all hate what drugs do to our family and friends. Bring up drug dealers is meant to calm our concerns because obviously the majority of us are not drug dealers so one can easily slip into believing the shouldn’t care about the military police force because they have never and will never sell drugs.

But it is the last few words of the sentence that should streak fear into every American, not just Warren County residents. “or others who might be contemplating a show of force.” There you have it folks we all fall into the category of others. So it is meant to strike fear of death into all residents. Yes it is followed by “who might be contemplating a show of force.” What exactly does this mean? What is a “show of force”? Not to worry I’m sure that will be left up to the sole discretion of the Sheriff and his deputies so there is no need for concern, right? Is having a gun rack in the back of your truck evidence that you may contemplate a show of force? Doeshaving a pistol permit mean you might be contemplating a show of force? What about a no trespassing sign? Does that show you might be contemplating a show of force to trespassers? What about those flags that read ‘Come and Take Them” that are so popular right now in the gun community? Certainly without a doubt anyone who flies that flag, owns a tshirt with that saying or has the decal on the back of their truck may be contemplating a show of force! NRA sticker? Don’t tread on me Flag? An archery target on the property? A facebook post, comment or like? One can easily argue that each reader of this post “might be contemplating a show of force.”

So every resident of Warren County welcome to the new militarized police state, one in which your elected officials aren’t even trying to hide anymore. And to all of you in Washington County don’t laugh at Warren too much, after all you will be receiving one of their military Humvees as well! Congratulations, but of course it will only be used for floods and bombings so no need for concern right?

Warren County residents and all those who live near by you should be calling and emailing the Warren County Sheriff and telling them you do not support the Sheriffs office becoming the Warren County Military. Threaten to vote him out! All second amendment supporters who ever have said “without the second we would have no others”, well you need to raise hell over this issue and that is just a MATTer of Fact!

Upcoming Weekend Warrior for NG Seniors Projects

Weekend Warriors for North Greenbush Seniors Continues

If you would like to read about this program click here for the full details. But basically in short it is a FREE program to help senior citizens in North Greenbush with things they just can’t do any more, such as mowing, maintenance, etc.

We have had the privilege of helping a wonderful woman who is going through some very hard times right now. Tending to her property and helping out with odds and ends allows this woman to remain in the home that she has lived in for over 40 years! Just think an hour or two of your time is actually allowing someone to remain in their home rather than be forced out being unable to maintain her property. Below are some of the projects I would like to see done. Here’s a glimpse of the yard after our first visit.

If you would like to volunteer on a Saturday for an hour or two please email me or get in touch with me! Mow and rake lawn clippings or see the projects below. If you are interested only in a certain project or any of them please specify. Thanks.

Or if you can’t volunteer your time but would like to make a donation of any amount to go towards equipment and other items needed for the Weekend Warriors for North Greenbush Seniors program you can do so here. We could also use any working lawn mowers and/or lawn tractors and trailers.

Weekend Warrior Project “CleanUp Debris”-

For this project we will be trimming back the trees to make a path to a patch of debris. Then we’ll be loading it onto a trailer and taking it about a mile down the road and unloading it. Volunteer Now

Weekend Warrior Project “Green Thumb Needed”-

Many of the shrubs and plants are over grown along the home. I’m not personally very good with a green thumb so need someone who is! We can at least use hedge trimmers and trim up the bushes into a more manageable size. Volunteer Now

Weekend Warrior Project “Tree Trimmin'”-

There are some trees that are in some obvious need of trimming. This project we will be using hand saws and pruners to make the trees able to be walked under, which opens up the property and makes it easier to mow for the other volunteers. Volunteer Now

Pulse of The People: Gun control equals religious control

Originally published in the Troy Record on Sunday, January 20th 2013.

New York state has passed the most restrictive gun laws in this nations history. People are excited about it and praise it as a great accomplishment. I’ve even people comment “Amen” and post the new control measures. Because I have read so much support and come to an understanding of the reasons why gun control is a good thing, I now purpose we have religious controls. This cannot wait and should be speed through the Assembly and Senate.

Why does anyone need more than one bible? Why should anyone have more than 10 devotional and/or other religious books? Isn’t the bible enough as a single book?

I have done Gov. Andrew Cuomo a favor and slightly modified his words on gun control in the State of the State so he doesn’t have to waste any time preparing a statement.

In the area of public safety — religious violence — has been on a rampage as we know firsthand and we know painfully. We must stop the madness, my friends. And in one word it is just enough. It has been enough. We need a religious policy in this state that is reasonable, that is balanced, that is measured. We respect clergy and believers. This is not taking away people’s bibles. I own a bible.. I’ve read it, I’ve even prayed. That’s not what this is about. It is about ending the unnecessary risk of large quantities of religious material. That’s what this is about.

When it comes to government reform, we all believe in government. But for government to be effective, we must be trusted and the more we’re trusted the more effective we are because it’s all about the relationship that we have with the citizens of this state.

I know, I know that the issue of religious control is hard, I know it’s political, I know it’s controversial. But we are proposing today common sense measures. And I say to you forget the extremists. It’s simple, no one needs ten devotionals to save a soul. End the madness now. Pass safe, reasonable religious control in the State of New York. Make this state safer. Save lives. Set an example for the rest of the nation. Let them look at New York and say this is what you can do and this is what you should do. This is New York, the “Progressive Capital.” You show them how we lead. We can do it. We’ve done it before, we can do it again.

Supporting gun control is supporting religious control. And that’s just a MATTer of fact.

Ban cell phones and gag everyone

We have seen so much tragedy as of late that I think it is finally time to make some smart sensible legislation regarding the 1st Amendment. This is a real concern as on one occasion alone someone yelling fire at a crowded party resulted in the death of 73 people. There was no fire, it was just senseless killing. To prevent any further violence we should pass legislation that all people entering a movie or any crowded room should be gagged. This is safe and reasonable. If we gag the people before they even have a chance at breaking the law we will all be safer, even if it only saves 1 life.

You may hear extremists talk about the 1st amendment but ignore them they aren’t sensible. If they never were planning on falsely yelling fire in the first place they wouldn’t be upset about the new legislation. How many more must die before our government takes notice and does something to protect us, especially the children. We need universal background checks on anyone starting a blog, commenting on facebook or going out in public. The power they hold to falsely identify danger, cause a panic resulting in the deaths of others is not a risk any reasonable person can deny. All blogs, social media accounts and emails should be  registered through the government with strict background checks before the blog is allowed to go live. This is fair and sensible and needs to be done to protect our children from harm.

Further more due to the raising use of cell phones to detonate explosives I’d like to see certain cell phones banned and a limit on the amount of minutes allowed  on a phone. Terrorists and other extremists use cell phones to detonate bombs killing innocents all too often in our world. If we can remove cell phones from the world, obviously we will have less attacks. While cell phones are convenient there is no need for them. We can and have previously lived our lives with out them and for the safety of all of us the time has come to finally have legislation banning these instruments that can cause wide spread pain and kill hundreds of innocents.

If we remove cell phones no one will be tempted to create a bomb to kill people it is that simple. To further support the need for a cell phone ban one can just look to the internet and readily find how easily it is to modify a cell phone into a detonation device. Again ignore the extremists we are talking about safety and the lives of innocent children here. Back in 2003 the FBI released information warning law enforcement officials about the use of cell phones and one point made while deciphering all the information was “Due to the large number of consumers who utilize cellphones, law enforcement agencies are at a disadvantage because the use of cell phones are so common, especially in public areas. With some cellphones being built with remote capabilities such as Bluetooth connectivity, it may be impossible for law enforcement officials to distinguish between regular cellphones and those which could be used to detonate explosives remotely.” This problem is real and needs to addressed. We have waited too long.

These propositions sound ridiculous? I fully agree. Why do these regulations sound horribly wrong when I have shown the damage cell phones and yelling about false danger can cause to our world? These regulations are no different then the gun legislation that Cuomo passed with the proud support of both Democrats and most Republicans in NYS. Why should we punish people before the break the law when it comes to guns but not to other dangers in this world?

Punishing people before they break the law is just ridiculous and that is just a MATTer of fact.

You Gun Supporters Will Cave In

The political powers that be market gun control as something so important for our society and act as if the majority of people commonly support it. If this was true why after all this talk about more unconstitutional restrictions gun sales are going up through the roof? The fact of the matter is most Americans agree with the second amendment. The problem is the marketing behind gun control is brilliant. They hammer all the news stations, radio and other forms of media with stories to play on people’s emotions. The vast majority of the time these emotional stories used have nothing to do with proving gun control works, they usually show the opposite. Supporters start to cave under the pressure. Limited magazine sizes, mental checks to buy guns, tracking your ammo purchases, etc. All do nothing for safety and just help usher in a further police state. All too often people say well I’m ok with these “small” regulations because I obey the law and have nothing to worry about, just don’t take MY gun. When you fail to stand up and not allow your rights to be trampled on you set a dangerous precedent. Guaranteed at some point the will restrict something you hold dear but the battle will already be lost because you didn’t care when they were violating other peoples freedom. Should we also have background checks and mental stability checks before someone is allowed to start a blog or write a letter to the editor? If we allow these new regulations that is not as far fetched as some like to believe. Whats the point of owning arms to protect yourself against a tyrannical government if you obey everything the said government demands of you? Now that you have agreed to mental restrictions whom will decide who has dangerous thoughts?

Enough is enough. Stop giving in to needing mental background checks, this is what the opposition wants! Government does not grant rights they are in power to protect the rights of 100% of the citizens and that’s just a MATTer of fact.

Checkpoints are unconstitutional

One of the most frustrating things I see all too often are suspicion-less check points. They come with a few different marketing angles such as “safety check point,” “DWI checkpoint,” and “Truck inspection.” These are blatantly unconstitutional and there is no intelligent reasoning that I’ve heard on how we as American citizens allow them. We all sing that America is the land of the free yet we comply with unconstitutional suspicion-less check points, please someone explain how this represents freedom.

The 4th amendment states “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” We have the right to be secure in our persons, houses, papers and effects. Officers will say NYS law allows for it, but remember, any law that is unconstitutional is considered null and void from it’s inception, not from the time it is found to be unconstitutional.

Police are not allowed to stop your vehicle simply for driving down a certain road. This is obviously discrimination and no different than an officer stopping a black man simply based on the color of his skin. A checkpoint stops everyone in a vehicle, simply based on the fact they are driving a vehicle and on a certain road. If you did not drive down this road you would not be stopped, therefore they are discriminating against all people who drive on that road. This is a violation of an explicitly protected right, not some granted “privilege”. How then do we allow something like safety check points which so clearly violate our rights as people? Many talk about the Constitution yet few will actually do anything to protect it. It’s time we all start taking these things more seriously and acting on our rhetoric.

I always use checkpoints as a way to inform police that they are violating the oath they took, and are willing participants in the government attempting to strip rights away from the people. I will not comply with certain demands officers make, as they have no right to make them. Sure this has caused me to spend a little extra time as they hassle me, try to intimidate me or take me out of the vehicle, but in the end I have never received a ticket nor been arrested for standing up and asserting these basic rights. I wish more people would start to refuse to comply at checkpoints, because those who do comply are also willing participants in the slippery slope of a police state.

People have told me that I’m just trying to cause trouble and that I should simply talk to them quickly and move along. “Why waste your time?”, they say. And my personal favorite, “Matt if you’re not doing anything wrong what do you care?”. These statements honestly make me sick to my stomach. Why do I care? I care about my son’s future living in America and I care about the birthrights of my fellow citizens. It is my duty as an American to refuse to comply and to attempt to educate officers when they are violating their own oath. Imagine if our Founding Fathers were just great speakers and didn’t actually believe or follow through with anything they spoke about. Do you think we would have ever become the greatest nation in history with that kind of attitude?

Recently at a suspicion-less, sobriety checkpoint in Perth, New York I was removed from the vehicle. I was removed for saying “you have no right to stop our vehicle and you are violating the Constitution.” Now this NYS Trooper was an angry person, and started screaming at me. I, confident in my rights, never needed to raise my voice as when you are speaking facts you don’t need to use intimidation. She demanded I show her identification and I refused as I was not the driver of the vehicle and last I knew Perth, NY was not Nazi Germany. In America, you are not required to carry papers to simply travel freely. I was removed from the vehicle and soon another two officers joined in the attempted intimidation. They demanded I comply with a whole series of demands and questioning. Instead of answering the questions the way they were pushing me, I answered with passages from the Constitution. I in turn questioned them about the oath they swore, and specifically if they thought a checkpoint violates the 4th amendment. The female trooper who originally removed me from the vehicle kept demanding that I show identification, yet I refused. I gave her my name and date of birth, which is all that is required of a non-driver in NYS. She was upset and continually screaming, but when I brought up the fact that I had identified myself, one of the other officers told her I was correct. In fact he said “one thing for sure is you have studied your rights.” Soon after, I was allowed back into the vehicle and we were released from detainment without any form of ticket or citation.
Honestly, I would love to just drive to my destination. However, as an American who really does care about freedom, I at times must set aside my own convenience. I consider it time well spent time and the risk of confrontation worth it in an attempt to help save our rights. If more people would stand up and believe in the Constitution it would not take long for us to abolish these unconstitutional suspicion-less check points.

I encourage everyone who has taken the time to read this pledge to make a pledge. Pledge to never willingly allow your natural rights to be violated. If you have any questions, concerns, or need any help with what to read and study so that you can be informed when you challenge these checkpoints, feel free to contact me.

For more on how to deal with police, visit Flex Your Rights a very informative website. They have a wide range of topics and videos that can help you start to know your rights and why they are important. Also you can always contact your local American Civil Liberties Union and ask them questions in regards to traffic stops.

Remember, all traffic checkpoints are unconstitutional and that is just a MATTer of fact.

There are 11 states which do not allow this suspicion-less unconstitutional check points. (Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.) Will you help me make New York State the 12th?
